(Better personal picture pending. ha ha) My name is Cheryl Vandegrift, and I am the photographer behind Sunflower Lane Photography, and you can find me in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I was in the Air Force for 12 years, was a stay at home mom for three years, and had a brick and mortar drop-in child care business for ten years. During all of this I fell in love with photography. My husband gave me my first DSLR camera one Christmas, and I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about it. I learned manual mode, editing, composing shots, lighting, directing clients. Who knew so much went into fine photography? And I am constantly learning! Whether I am watching videos about editing, or following other photographers whose work I admire, I am always coming up with new ways to improve my product. Because I want my clients to have the best I can offer.

I believe fine photography should tell a story, and not just be random snapshots. You can do that with your phone. I want to tell the story of YOU, your family, your partner, your children, your growing family, no matter what shape or size that may be. Because we need to adorn our walls with our hearts, and not so much mass-produced items. We must be willing to invest in ourselves, in quality memories and in timeless products that will always be important to us.

What to Expect From our Session

Whether you have had your pictures taken many times or never, I want my clients to feel comfortable and natural. I will assess what type of theme you prefer, and will suggest locations that meet your vision. I will ensure we are on the same page for expectations of my photography style and editing. I will assist you with your styling decisions for the best outcome for your portraits. There is no such thing as a bad question, so please ask whatever you need answered at any point in time. Time will be taken to make sure you are relaxed and prepared for our time together, and communication from the first inquiry is paramount. I will do everything in my power to capture the best portraits I can, and will help you through the entire process. Your satisfaction with your investment is most important to me.
